End of Chapter, End of Story?

Well, the reports say that Brett Favre has informed the Vikings of his intent to stay retired. Shall we believe him?

All signs seemed to be pointing to Favre joining the Vikings. That appeared to be his preferred destination when things blew up between him and the Packers front office last year, and that was the scenario that Ted Thompson was trying most to avoid. Now the pieces were all in place for Favre to go there, but he has declined. Strange.

Of course, Favre is now notorious for his waffling, and so it's hard to say with confidence that today's decision will be tomorrow's reality.

For the moment, it appears to be the end of Brett Favre's NFL career. If so, that career deserves some reflection. But, let's give it a little time. It may only be the end of one more chapter, but not yet the whole story.
